Tam Sr. High

July 28, 2019 02:00 PM -August 03, 2019 11:00 AM

A rustic outdoor setting, in the Sierra Mountain Range at 7500’, Tamarack gives the feeling of the Sierra wilderness. It is nestled among towering pines 60 miles from Fresno. The area around the camp has seen little development and is rustic but beautiful. A meandering creek runs through the edge of camp. Shade from tall Lodge Pole pines and Sugar Pine trees, and the elevation, keep daytime temperatures cool - usually 70s to 80s. The temperature can dip to the 30s at night.

The land is leased from the US Forest Service. Since the area is covered in snow most of the year, the camp is only open in summer (late June - early September). The manager lives at the camp during the summer season. There is no electricity and a telephone for emergency use only. Light is provided by a solar generation unit or gas lights in some buildings.

Senior High camp is for campers entering grades 10 to 12 in the fall of 2019, and 2019 graduates.

Camp Tamarack is in the high Sierra, east of Fresno. When the snow melts at over 7,000 feet a rustic Camp Tam is revealed. Shared cooking gives everyone an opportunity to take a turn helping the cooks prepare meals for the group. Tent cabins, a lodge, fire bowl, worship area, big field, lakes close by, and propane lighting make for an amazing, close time. Check out photos on our Facebook pages. The weeks at camp vary, but they typically include:

  • small-group discussions on a scripture-based theme for the week
  • a Talent/No Talent Show for campers to show off their skills, skits, jokes, or none-of-the-above
  • daily evening worship services
  • hiking in stunning forests
  • swimming
  • games and sports
  • crafts
  • dance parties

Each week is an opportunity to praise and explore our Still Speaking God, nature & Creation, and friends both familiar and new.
